June Home Maintenance Checklist: Keep Your Home in Top Shape!

by Becca Matos

As we embrace the warm Summer months, it's essential to ensure our homes are well-maintained and ready for the season. June is the perfect time to tackle some key maintenance tasks that will keep your home looking its best. Here’s a June Home Maintenance Checklist to help you stay on track:

1. Clean Grill Grates

Summer is grilling season! To ensure your BBQs are safe and delicious, start by thoroughly cleaning your grill grates. Remove any built-up grease and food particles to prevent flare-ups and ensure even cooking. A clean grill not only improves the taste of your food but also extends the life of your grill. Remember not to use grill scrapers with metal bristles!

2. Fertilize Your Yard

A lush, green lawn is the pride and joy of many homeowners. Fertilizing your yard in June provides the nutrients your grass needs to thrive during the hot Summer months. Choose a fertilizer that suits your grass type and follow the instructions carefully. Your lawn will thank you with vibrant growth and a healthy, green appearance.  If you don't want to fertilize it yourself, reach out to me, I can give you some local lawn care companies' information!

3. Update First Aid Kit

Safety first! Take a moment to check your first aid kit and replenish any used or expired items. A well-stocked first aid kit is crucial for handling minor injuries and emergencies, especially with kids playing outside and summer activities in full swing.

4. Clean and Inspect Your Fridge and Freezer

Your refrigerator and freezer work overtime during the summer, keeping your food fresh and your drinks cold. Start by cleaning the interior shelves and drawers with your cleaner of choice. Check the seals on the doors to ensure they are tight and free of cracks. A clean and efficient fridge and freezer help reduce energy consumption and prevent food spoilage.

5. Clean and Prep Lawn Mower

A well-maintained lawn mower makes yard work easier and more efficient. Before you start mowing regularly, give your mower a thorough cleaning. Remove any grass clippings and debris from the blades and undercarriage. Check the oil level, and sharpen the blades if necessary. A properly maintained mower ensures a clean, even cut and a beautiful lawn.
